While a small country it has a wide range of attractions some of the most famous being:
- The tall peaks of the Julian Alps mountain range of which Mount. Triglav, is the highest peak (2863m) and a symbol of Slovenia being its national coat of arms.
- The Soca Valley (pronounced ‘socha’) is an area of rugged natural beauty. The area is dominated by the emerald river which gives the valley its name.
- The compact, cosmopolitan capital Ljubljana which has been likened to a smaller and friendlier Prague.
- The beautiful lake resorts of Bled and Bohinj which are popular with both Slovenians and overseas visitors.
- Slovenia’s Skocjan Caves, are a world heritage protected site which are among the world’s most famous systems of limestone (karstic) caves.
