We fell in love with Slovenia on holiday and that was the start of our discussions to buy a holiday home. There were 2 couples with the dream, therefore we decided to go in together so that we could buy something a bit more substantial.
We spent 12 months going backwards and forwards, we even included Istria because we were not being shown suitable properties to match our requirements. The trips were unsuccessful we saw loads of houses, but not many that met our list of, must haves, it seemed once we were with agents they took us where they wanted even when we said NO!
We must have seen around 100 properties in the 2 countries and had really just about given up.
We agreed 1 more visit concentrating on Slovenia only and that is when we found the Slovenia Estates web site. We immediately found houses we liked the look of; the site has good detail and is listed in price order, but more importantly Justin listened to what we wanted and advised when he thought our choices would not meet our requirements and we would be wasting our time. It was the first honest approach we had, and we became confident that Justin had a feel for what we were looking for and wouldn’t send us on a wild goose chase, so off we went again.
This time, just the women again, we had fewer houses to see in a more concentrated area, by the end of that visit we had actually seen 3 possibilities, there was no pressure on us at the viewing and lots of discussion and ideas about the properties. We narrowed our decision down to 2 sitting by Lake Bled (beautiful) and before leaving asked Justin and his colleague to put in an offer, they did all the negotiating for us, giving us good advice about purchase costs etc.
Negotiations continued back at home and eventually we ended up with our house within our budget. It was all very easy, price agreed, Justin linked us with a solicitor who started the purchase process and within a month the house was ours, all done over the internet. Of course the other advantage with Slovenia Estates is the English and Justin has staff including two licensed agents that speak Slovenian, so best of both worlds.
It was very exciting to all go out together and see it again and Justin met us to make sure that everything was in place and was helpful with making recommendations about next steps.
We definitely made the right decision with the house, both the property and our views are beautiful and the locals are amazing. The house wasn’t finished so we have had a lot of building work, but even now if we are stuck we know we can go back to Justin for advice or pointing in the right direction.
