Disillusioned with the property market in the UK but keen to get on the property ladder we decided to invest in a property in Slovenia. We had visited the country a number of times and we knew the different areas quite well and were keen on a property close to Bohinj National Park.
We had ear-marked a few properties of interest having browsed the Slovenia Estates website and were keen to see them. Having been met at the airport and shown around the properties we asked for a survey to be completed, which Slovenia Estates arranged entirely, including an official translation into English. The house required some work and on a second visit Slovenia Estates arranged for a local tradesman to be on site to discuss the modernising.
Whilst we eventually decided that this property wasn’t quite right for us Justin of Slovenia Estates had a much better idea of what we were after and put together a PDF document of all the properties in the area that may suit our needs. All the properties he & Eva showed us met our requirements but we eventually put an offer in on a house with land near Bohinjska Bistrica.
Slovenia Estates handled all the negotiations, lawyers and legal work; keeping us fully in the loop at all times with everything translated into English.
We had to take a mortgage on the property and Slovenia Estates put us in direct contact with the bank manager at Volksbanka in Siska, Ljubljana. This process was completely hassle free. We always dealt directly with the bank manager who translated all relevant documentation and discussed all the options with us.
Eva from Slovenia Estates attended the hand over and ensured all meter readings and transfers of accounts took place as well as translating and answering any questions we had.
We used a builder Justin recommended to project manage some new bathrooms in the property. Again, the work was excellent value, to a very high standard and on time. As the project manager also manages properties in the area we were able to visit a number of properties to see examples of previous work and different designs of bathrooms for ideas.
We have now been in our property for seven months and have no regrets. In fact, we are even considering another rental property in the area.
Our experience of Slovenia Estates and the team there is all positive and we would recommend them and their suggested partners without reservation. At no point did we feel pressured into anything and everything was arranged and explained clearly and carried out efficiently.
