Kranjska gora

Slovenian tourism is on the rise and many tourists come to ski and a large percentage come to Kranjska Gora region. It’s a beautiful area and many overseas property investors are buying in the town and surrounding area, for the potential to make great capital gains and solid rental incomes from tourists.

Kranjska Gora is situated in north western Slovenia near the borders with Austria and Italy.

The best known of all the Slovenian ski resorts and Kranjska Gora is a picturesque romantic and popular alpine village. The area is a regular site for World Cup races; the town being near to both the Austrian and Italian borders allows skier’s access to three different countries all in close proximity to each other on one pass.

Slovenia is rising in popularity as tourism is being promoted more actively by the Government. It remains a cheaper base than Austria and Italy, yet both are within easy reach and of course Slovenia has much to offer in terms of skiing in its own right.

The imposing peaks of the Julian Alps dominate the skyline around the resort and vast fairytale alpine forests stretch from Mojstrana to Rateče. Kranjska Gora also touches Triglav National Park to the south (the largest in Slovenia) and an area of outstanding scenic beauty,

The Kranjska Gora ski lifts are the oldest in all of Slovenia. The lifts are easily reached and because of their altitude (the lower station is just 813 meters) they offer favorable snow and weather conditions and are suitable for skiers of all abilities.

Beginners can take on the slopes and trails in Kranjska Gora and Gozd Martuljek, while experienced skiers can try the more challenging Podkoren trail. The world’s best skiers also compete annually here for the Vitranc Trophy in World Cup men’s giant slalom.

Kranjska Gora does not just attract skiers and the area is a real paradise for nature lovers all year round.

Walkers can enjoy the Zelenci area, the Tamar valley, and the tri-border region, and mountain hikers can try the numerous marked trails through the Karavanke Mountains and Julian Alps. For cyclists, Vršič Pass is a challenging ride and the area features more than 150 kilometers of marked bicycle trails and a mountain bike park. For riders who enjoy trail riding, horses can be rented at the Rasinger Riding Center in Podkoren,

For fishing, Jasna Lake and the Sava, Pišnica, and Bistrica rivers have an abundance of trout and people travel from all over the world to enjoy the world class fishing available in the area. For those who enjoy heights, there are plenty of places that cater for Para gliders.

Finally, children can visit the land of the legendary boy hero Kekec and enjoy the summer sled run.

Slovenia has a lot to offer property investors and the Kranjska Gora region will appeal due to the fact that its popularity is rising, should continue to rise and this means the demand for high quality property is on the increase and more overseas property investors are taking advantage of this growth.

The outlook for property investment in the area is good and property is still keenly priced. Capital growth potential is excellent and the rental market is solid. If you are considering an investment in Slovenia property, then Kranjska Gora has a lot to offer.
