Most new hotels are opening with spa extensions and the Slovenes have always had an interest in health and wellness, which has grown up around the numerous thermal springs which can be found all over Slovenia. Around these thermal spas, a number of health resorts, wellness centres and retreats can be found which cover every popular holistic and alternative medical treatment in terms of rejuvenating mind, body and soul.

Located in Prekmurje together with other thermal spas and health resorts, Terme Banovci is part of a group which is focused on family-friendly services.
Terme Čatež
This spa has 12,000 square metres of water, making it the largest thermal pool complex in Slovenia. The spa got its name from a creature in Slovenian folklore which was half-man, half-goat and known as Čatez. In his honour, there is now a statue which at the entrance to the complex. Nearby, you will find Mokrice Castle which is a high-quality hotel which has a wide range of health and wellness options on site as well as a golf course.
Dobrna Spa
This spa is Slovenia’s oldest health resort: the springs were used in Roman times with the spa having been used by the local population since 1403. The spa’s hotel, Zdraviliški Dom, was built in 1624 and contains huge marble baths which have been enjoyed for centuries to relax in. Over the centuries, many royal and famous visitors have visited and its one of the most famous of all Slovenia’s thermal spa complexes.
Lendava Spa
The paraffin-rich water of Lendava has been used for over 800 years. The high percentage of paraffin gives the water a distinctive green hue and is used to treat a variety of skin conditions.
Terme Ptuj Spa
One of the newest spas in Slovenia, the 37-year-old Ptuj Spa is situated in the oldest Slovenian city, which dates back to Roman times. The thermal park has 4,200 square metres of indoor water surfaces, and boasts the longest water slides in Slovenia.
Portorož Spa
The area has a tradition of salt-making which dates back to Roman times. In the 13th century Benedictine monks used salt-pan mud and brine to treat many illnesses; in the 17th century, the fame of the spa had spread and many came to experience the healing qualities of the salt. Today, Portorož is a cosmopolitan destination, within easy reach of local tourist attractions such as the Lipica stud farm, the Postojna and Škocjan Caves, the Brioni Islands of Croatia, and the resort is also within easy reach of Venice.
Laško Spa
The thermal springs at Laško were first used by the ancient Romans. The medicinal effect of the thermal water is believed to help relieve medical problems such as hypertension, chronic joint and spine inflammation, and help to improve circulation to all areas of the body. Termana Laško as a visitor spa has been around for more than a century and half.
Olima Spa
The Olimia Spa uses thermal water extracted from a 600 metre deep well and has been used for healing purposes for thousands of years. The Celts were the first to use the health-giving waters, followed by the Romans and then the monks of The Order of Saint Paul, the first hermit. The waters are, of course, are still used to this day and Olimia Spa is now more popular than ever, with both locals and overseas visitors
Zreče Spa
Terme Zreče’s thermal water come from the unique Pohorje peat which provides its unique healing qualities. Terme Zreče is situated in the midst of the lush green forests of Pohorje, a relaxing area with clean alpine air. The town of Zreče is a small, friendly town set within the forests, close to the Dravinja river. Terme Zreče also has a health, skiing and sports centre.
Terme 3000 – Moravske Toplice, Sava Hotels & Resorts
Spa 3000 is one of Slovenia’s most well-known thermal spas. The temperature of the spring which is located nearly 2,000 metres underground, is a warming 72 degrees. Terme 3000 has a wide range of hotels offering a variety of complementary healing techniques. The healing mineral water is available in nearly every room.
The five-star Hotel Livada Prestige has a state-of-the-art wellness centre which has six pools, saunas, and the very latest in fitness equipment. Near to the hotel is an 18-hole golf course which also boasts excellent sports facilities in the sports park. The water surface of the spa is over 5,000 square metres.
